7 sessions from Wed 6 Sep 2023 [Show]
This session is designed to support you and your child/children with their overall cognitive (brain) development. For babies under 12 months, this may be stimulatimg sensory activities, reading, singing, mirror play etc. For babies and toddlers over 1 and children up to the age of 5, we will begin to look further at developing language, communication, phonics skills, and early mathematics whilst learning through play.
The parent/ or family member will develop their own teaching skills: how to set up activities to extend your babies/children at home; how to use open ended questioning skills to promote thinking; how to allow appropriate risk taking within play; how to stretch and challenge your children's early communication, phonics and maths skills; and learn where your child's strengths are, and where they might require more support.
Designed as a stay and play, you and your child will access our play environment with the support of an experienced early years teacher and teaching assistant. We will guide you through expected milestones for your baby/toddlers age, and model a variety of techniques and activities to help your child gain confidence, skills and knowledge as they continue to grow.
For new parents, understanding how to support your child best can be daunting and overwhelming. We want to empower parents and provide useful advice to ensure your children continue to make progress no matter what their starting point.
Parents are not only the main care givers, but also the main teachers that they will have throughout life. Come and join us to see how you can develop your own teaching skills to ensure your children get the very best start to life and education.
