Children will complete a variety of maths games and activities throughout the day in order to recieve new clues about the missing man. The students will compete both individually, as well as part of a team to solve the mystery. Working as detectives, our tasks for clues will take a variety of forms and will keep the adrenaline and excitement going all day! Our journey will take us to a set-up crime scene and students will be given a police information pack. They will have to use a variety of Maths skills to help the police with their investigation. The aim is to find and answer all the clues to get our lovely Maths teacher Luke back home safe and back to work at Lighthouse Academy!
Friday- Fit-it day! The children will get to choose a personal Maths and English target for the day. This should be something the child personally wants to develop their confidence in! For example, spelling/handwriting/a particular times table/long division…Whatever it might be. The teacher will support each child in doing this, and refine their ideas into just two smart targets that can be achieved within just one day. Children will be encouraged to start the day by writing/recording 10 creative ways to practise their targets whilst learning through choice/play. Again, ideas and learning will be supported by the adults in the room. Our children love choose time within our term-time sessions to practise personal targets that need work. They have become especially creative in their ideas to incorperate their favourite activities into play based learning. Today will be all about choice and personal, self-development!
As well as all of this super learning and fun, everyday will also be broken up with short breaks, a 30 minute lunch break, as well as a fitness hour where the children can burn off some energy in the studios upstairs or outdoors.
